This region is inhabited since primeval times. Along the lake shore the Palliate settlers were living in their huts on piles. The Celts were at home on the Mt. Vully and two dozen kilometres away from here you will find the small town of Avenches (Aventicum), which was the first capital of Switzerland, erected by the Romans, about 2000 years ago.

Instructions: Descend the stairs again and head for the lake shore, along on the right you will find the harbour and the Hotel Schiff. Many roads lead to Rome - therefore you can also traverse the old town and go through the Berntor to the Hotel Schiff.
